Montefiascone to Viterbo (17.5 km)
A threat of rain today, that never seriously materialized as we left Montefioscone on the dampened streets. Within an hour of leaving town we were on the ancient Roman road, the Via Cassia. We thought we would encounter our German friends today, as they usually start in the morning before us, but we usually catch up to them in one or two hours, but we went all day without seeing them.

I often take photos of castaway walking shoes on different journeys, but this pair of heels was the oddest castaways I've come across and had me wondering, "Were we following the yellow brick road?"

Ok, we're on the right track! |

A look back at Montefiascone |
As we started to cross the wide open spaces the weather started to improve and blue skies gradually opened up as the clouds parted.
