Lisbon at Last!

After a few hiccups courtesy of Rouge Air we have finally arrived in Lisbon only 24 hours behind schedule. After a check in at our hotel it was time for some lunch at the little cafe conveniently located next to our hotel.

Cheryl particularly like the cappuccino.

After lunch we did a little exploring through the different districts, stopping by the oldest beer hall in Lisbon, formerly the dining hall of a monetary. It became a brewery after the monks left in 1834.

Phil and Nola liked their mini glasses of Guiness.

We took a crowded trolley out to Belem and tasted the famous pastel de nata custard pasteries, and ambled out to the Belem Tower that guarded the harbour entrance in bygone days.

Back in Lisbon we found a great little eatery down an alleyway for dinner, a mom and pop operation, filled with locals that showed that deals can be found when you get off the regular tourist routes. Dinner for 8 plus 2 bottles of wine and a couple of beers for 55 euros!

Tomorrow we have more exploring to do.
