We arrived in Lucca yesterday and are spending the day here before beginning our walk to Rome on the Via Francigena. We are staying at the Ostello San Frediano. This beautiful building and grounds was part of the convent of the Church San Frediano back in the 6th century, originally founded by the Bishop Frediano. The convent and the church were rebuilt in the 12th century.
Lucca has a beautiful walk around the ramparts of the city that we explored today. Some to the sights today before our walk begins tomorrow:

The relaxing grounds of the Ostello San Frediano |
I'm not sure if this is how the citizenry of Lucca normally dress, but we were pretty impressed with this pageantry!

Market Day never fails to reveal some interesting items... |
