Woke up to rain coming down again this morning at our Hostal and after a quick breakfast headed out to find our Way.
Superwoman, Nola sometimes carries two packs to give her husband a break :)
We stopped for lunch at this Albergue/Cafe called Quinta Estrada Romana, owned by a woman from Halifax, named Lesley, who happened to be in Vancouver and Sechelt only a week ago. She had an interesting story...her husband died in 2008 and she was devastated. Then in 2010 she heard from a man she hadn't heard from since high school. He had also lost his wife and told her that he was walking the Camino Frances for 800 km. she couldn't understand that. He said he might phone her back when he was done if he felt like it. When he did phone he told her that she hadn't gotten over the grief of losing her husband and she should do a Camino. Eventually they did it together and then did the Portuguese Camino. Afterwards when reviewing photos of the Portuguese Camino they came upon one they had taken on the trail of a derelict building and noticed that it had a "for sale" sign. Two months later they had bought the building and set about the 3 year task of restoring the it to its present condition. They have been opened now for 3 months. There are always so many stories on the Camino.
Lesley telling her story.
Leaving Quinta Estrada Romana.
Leaving the walled city of Valenca, the last city on the Portugal side of the Camino Portugues.
Crossing the International bridge over the Minho River that separates Portugal from Spain. Time to move our clocks one hour ahead!
On the Spanish side of the Camino. 121.5 km down. 114 km to go.
